Psalm 150: Loud praise!

Have you ever felt like everything is in its right place?  Things have come together perfectly?  And that you are right where you belong and everything is as it should be?

Maybe you've had partial glimpses of it.

But that's just not how life in this world usually works... yet!

However, when we give all glory to God, when we praise him for who he is, when we give him his due, his proper place, give him our first and our best, when we worship him above all others, when we give him his proper place, we find our proper place a little more!

This is Psalm 150.  The last song in the Bible's song book.  And it finishes with a bang!

Praise the Lord.
Praise God in his sanctuary;
    praise him in his mighty heavens.
Praise him for his acts of power;
    praise him for his surpassing greatness.
Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
    praise him with the harp and lyre,
praise him with tambourine and dancing,
    praise him with the strings and pipe,
praise him with the clash of cymbals,
    praise him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord.

Have you ever celebrated God big and loud and given your whole self over to him in adoration and worship?  This could be by yourself going nuts in praise in your room.  Or in a crowd of thousands at a festival.  Or anything inbetween.  Giving your whole heart to God in honouring him as God.  Giving your best to him, because he's the best.

Why should we put him first?  Because he's first!

Why give him your best?  Because he's the best!

This is who God is and if we're ever going to find our true place in this broken world, we need to recognise and know him for who he really is.

How can we do that?

Jesus is how.

If you're a Christian already, then you know what I mean and have already begun the adventure of a relationship with God.

Or you might not yet be convinced or sure about Jesus.

Either way, I'm sure you have questions about the journey you're on with all of this.  And so in September, we'll be starting a new series at Bright Idea Church called - Ask God Anything!  It would be really great to journey together with you!  More on that next week!
